VIA CHARACTER STRENGTHS
Our values and character strengths form a strong foundation for our lives, decisions, and priorities. VIA stands for "Values in Action" - how we put our values into play on a day-to-day basis. Based on the foundation of Positive Psychology, the VIA Character Strengths Survey is a psychometrically validated personality test that measures an individual’s character strengths. Character strengths are viewed as our positive personality in that they are our core capacities for thinking, feeling, and behaving in ways that can bring benefit to oneself and others. We express our character strengths universally across all domains – work, relationships, school, social, etc.
The VIA Survey only measures your good character, for instance qualities such as: love, kindness, fairness, zest and hope. Research shows that people who know and utilize their unique strengths have stronger relationships, find more engagement in their work, and lead happier, more fulfilling lives. After taking the VIA Survey to discover your unique strengths, the next step is reflecting on personality strengths development -- how you use your strengths in your daily life. What a great foundation for individual coaching and team development!
Emergenetics™ is rooted in the concept that who you are today is the emergence of your behaviour, genetic makeup and life experiences. Emergenetics provides a clear way to understand this intersection of nature and nurture through the Emergenetics Profile, which is built on four Thinking Attributes and three Behavioural Attributes that every person exhibits, creating more than 400 possible profiles.
These attributes were identified by reviewing research from a wide body of academic literature covering personality, psychology, and neuroscience. The results were then subjected to rigorous statistical analysis.
The Emergenetics Profile is designed from a psychometric foundation to provide an in-depth knowledge of our unique make-up, and provides an understanding of the individual or group – including strengths and potential blind spots. By completing the profile and debrief with Karen, a Certified Emergenetics Associate, you will gain extraordinary insight into your own innate preferences (and recognize those of others) and be able to apply your newfound knowledge to your life and relationships.
The signature workshop, Meeting of the Minds, reveals participants’ thinking and behavioural preferences through experiential learning in order to realize greater individual and team potential. In a corporate or organizational environment, the Meeting of the Minds workshop can be used as a talent development platform by empowering individuals and setting the tone for a positive culture, and also customized to meet organizational development needs including leadership, personal development, team building and communication. Intact teams and their leaders gain insight into the strengths of the group and its opportunities for growth and increased effectiveness.
Emergenetics is one of the most versatile workplace tools on the market. Whether you’re looking for individual empowerment and growth, team development, or ways to improve the way you work, including stronger communication, reduced conflict, and increased creativity, we have a clear, focused way to make it happen at Karen Elkin Leadership.

Energy Leadership™ is the process that develops a personally effective style of leadership that positively influences and changes not only yourself, but also those with whom you work and interact everywhere in your life.
Leadership is how you interact with everyone, including yourself, regardless of what it says on your business card or whether you even have one. EVERYONE is a leader either by choice or default.
Energy Leadership is firmly rooted in 7 levels of awareness and the concepts of catabolic and anabolic energy. Catabolic energy exists in thoughts, feelings, beliefs, actions and words that lead to the breakdown of engagement, connection, positivity and a healthy culture in your workplace, community or home. Conversely, Anabolic leaders have the ability to motivate and inspire themselves and others to do extraordinary things.
The Energy Leadership Index (E.L.I.) is a one-of-a-kind assessment that enables leaders to hold up mirrors to their perceptions, attitudes, behaviors, and overall leadership capabilities. The E.L.I. is an attitudinal assessment, which is based on an energy/action model. It measures your level of energy based on your attitude, or perception and perspective of your world. Because attitude is subjective, it can be altered. By working with a coach using the E.L.I., you can alter your attitude and perspective, make a shift in your consciousness, and increase your energy and leadership effectiveness.
As part of the Energy Leadership Index assessment and debrief process, you'll learn about the 7 levels of leadership and how much energy you currently have in the catabolic-suppressing range and in the anabolic-inspirational range. You'll be debriefed on the findings of the assessment, and coached on how to navigate yourself to higher performance.
If you proceed on to the Energy Leadership Development System, you'll be coached on how to become your ideal image of who you need to be as a leader for your situation, division, team, and/or company.
Karen Elkin Leadership can customize an Energy Leadership workshop to your group or organization, providing deep insight into individual and organizational perspectives that contribute or detract from your goals and ability to achieve them.
