“If you ever find yourself in the wrong story, leave.” ~ Mo Willems*
Not enjoying the story in your head? You know, the one you keep telling yourself over and over again? The one your inner critic/gremlin keeps reciting? Leave!
Feel like you are forcing yourself to finish the best selling novel because you “should”? Leave!
Not appreciating the energy-sucking conversation around the water cooler or playground? Leave!
Maybe it is time to find another story. Or write your own.
Best advice I could give myself – or anyone else – today!
Which of your stories is worth leaving behind today?
*Mo Willems is an author who writes books for children that are loved by adults, too. Simple yet profound, hilarious and silly, creative, etc. I bought his activity book, “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!”, for my son and it inspired hours and days of creativity and hilarity. Who couldn’t use more of those in their life?
